Bhupendra Patel, chief minister of Gujarat, celebrated his 61st birthday in a low-key manner, with little fanfare or commotion. 

The chief minister, who turned 61 on July 15, visited the Adalaj Trimandir, located 20 kilometers distant from Ahmedabad near Adalaj village, to offer his prayers and perform pooja of Simandhar Swami and Yogeshwar Bhagwan on the temple premises for the peace and prosperity of Gujarat state.

Bhupendra Patel, who was born on July 15, 1962 in Ahmedabad's Kadva Pol in Dariyapur to a Gujarati Kadava Patidar-Kurmi family, studied civil engineering before entering the real estate industry. He has a long history of working with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Bhupendrabhai, a builder by profession, is a trustee of the Sardar Dham and Vishwa Umiya Foundations, and people in Dariyapur still refer to him as the "Beloved Son of Kadwa Pol." 

He is a supporter of Dada Bhagwan's Akram Vignan Movement and enjoys cricket and badminton.

Dada, as he is affectionately known among his close friends, Bhupendra Patel entered hardline politics in 2017 when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) first fielded him from the Ghatlodia assembly seat. 

Bhupendrabhai won his first election by a margin of 1,17,750 votes.

Patel was a member of Memnagar Nagarpalika from 1999-2000 and 2004–2006. He was the President of Memnagar Nagarpalika from 1999–2000. He was the Vice Chairman of the school board of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) from 2008 to 2010.

He was a councilor from Thaltej Ward from 2010 to 2015.He was a chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) from 2015 to 2017 and also served as a chairman of the Standing Committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

Known as a close confidante of former Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel, Bhupendrabhai was given the BJP ticket from Ghatlodia due to the recommendation of Anandiben.

Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani proposed Bhupendrabhai's name as the new CM of Gujarat and his name was officially declared by Narendra Tomar.

Presently, Bhupendrabhai is the MLA from the Ghatlodia assembly constituency and the upcoming Gujarat Assembly election will be content under his leadership.
