The Gujarat government will install 48 MW solar systems on its buildings in the state in 2024-25 at more than Rs 177 crore, said an official release Sunday.
The initiative is part of various government initiatives for environmentally sustainable development.
The release added that Gujarat has a solar energy potential of over 36 GW and to tap into this resource, the Climate Change Department of the state government is actively installing solar rooftops on government buildings.
So far, more than 3,000 solar rooftop systems with a total capacity of 56.8 MW have been installed.
Solar systems worth Rs 177 crore will be installed in addition to these.
