Fliers lament lack of basic facilities at Surat airport
New Update

Frequent fliers from the city airport have been bombarding the social media with lack of basic facilities like wi-fi, clean drinking water and absence of pre-paid taxi service even as expansion work and development projects have been announced,

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) recently announced that it is extensively working towards holistic development of this international airport with a project cost of Rs 353 crore.

The projects include extension of existing terminal building from 8,474 sq m to 25,520 sq m, expansion of the apron from five parking bays to 18 and construction of a parallel taxi track.

After expansion, the terminal building will be capable of handling 1,200 domestic and 500 international passengers during peak hours, taking the annual passenger capacity to 2.6 million.

Lack of pre-paid taxi service and ATMs is another issue flagge by passengers besides stinking toilets and rude behaviour of staff of different departments.
