The Gujarat Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday booked Captain Ajay Chauhan, former chief executive officer of Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Limited (GUJSAIL) and former director of Civil Aviation, along with two others, under the Anti Corruption Act.

The ACB said they allegedly “misused powers” and caused a loss of around Rs 72 lakh to the government treasury.

Chauhan, GUJSAIL accountant Alpesh Prajapati, and Alpesh Tripathi, a director of Kasmc Aviation, were booked in an FIR lodged at the Ahmedabad city ACB police station on Wednesday.

The chief security officer and general manager of GUJSAIL filed an official complaint with the ACB after receiving a go-ahead from the state government.

The development comes after a preliminary inquiry report of the ACB was submitted to the state government. GUJSAIL is a public sector company of the Gujarat government.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) G V Padheriya said the period of the alleged corruption was between 2017 and 2023.

A senior police officer said Chauhan had used the government aircraft for personal use and to ferry his family from Mumbai to Ahmedabad at least once. The officer also told this newspaper that Chauhan is facing an investigation for disproportionate assets.
