Complaint of religion conversion against Missionaries of Charity registered at Makarpura police station

A complaint is registered with Makarpura police station alleging that the girls living in the institution were being converted by the Children's Home for Girls run by the Missionaries of Charity on Makarpura Road in Vadodara city. The complaint alleges that the girls were motivated to read books and wear cross given by the organization. Police is further investigating in the matter.

Vadodara Incharge Social Welfare officer Mayank Trivedi mentioned in his complaint about their visit to the organisation on 10th December following the direction by the collector. Chairperson of National Committee for Protection of Child Rights visited the institute and directed the Collector for an investigation. Based on that a committe was formed and they visited the organisation and submit their report to the collector and also gives a complaint in Makarpura police station on 12th December.

"Incharge Social Welfare officer gives a complaint and based on that the police registered case under various sections of IPC including Gujarat Freedom of Religion 2003 sections 3,4. As per the complaint the Chairperson of National Committee for Protection of Child Rights visited the institute in the month of August and directed the Collector for an investigation. Based on that a committee was formed by the collector and they visited the organisation on 10th December and submit a report to the collector. They mentioned points like the children were motivated for religion conversion, marriage in other religions and no investigation reports of children caught during child labour raids. Based on that they gives a complaint in the police station and further investigation is on in the matter," said S.B. Kupavat ACP F Division.
