AMC unearths Narmada line under its Chankheda plot on sale

The municipal corporation has found that underneath a commercial plot in Chandkheda it has put up for sale, runs a main Narmada trunk line. Since no construction can take place on the plot in TP Scheme No.

76/B even if sold, the civic body has decided to move the line at a cost of Rs 5.29 crore.

A proposal for the project was approved at the meeting of AMC's water and sewage committee held on Monday.

AMC's separate plan to extend Narmada drinking water supply to Chandkheda, Motera, Ranip and Sabarmati areas involved laying a 2,500mm diameter main supply line from the Jaspur treatment plant to KD Hospital via Vaishnodevi Crossroads and connecting it to the 1,600mm diameter main trunk line in Chandkheda.

It was under this process that AMC noticed that the trunk line runs beneath the commercial plot it has put on the market.
