The city on Saturday recorded a scorching 44.5°C, the highest temperature this summer, surpassing Friday's 44.2°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted this was 2.5 degrees above normal, with the minimum temperature also high at 30.8°C, 3.3 degrees above average.
The IMD forecasts similar temperatures for Sunday in Ahmedabad. Surendranagar recorded the highest temperature at 45.5°C,.
Experts stress that institutions and urban planners should adopt and implement global best practices in heat stress-prone areas.
