Citizens heaved a sigh of relief on Sunday as the maximum temperature dropped to 43.2°C, compared to 44.4°C on Saturday. 

After reaching the season’s highest temperature of 46.6 degrees celsius on Thursday, the temperature has decreased by 3.4 degrees in just three days.

Across Gujarat, the temperature has also fallen.

On Sunday, four cities and towns recorded temperatures of 43°C or higher. 

Kandla and Vallabh Vidyanagar experienced the highest temperatures at 43.7°C each, followed by Ahmedabad at 43.2°C and Gandhinagar at 43°C.

The relative humidity during the day also improved to 25% as a light breeze was felt in several parts of the city during the morning and evening hours.

The impact of the drop in temperature was apparent in the number of heat-related emergencies over the past couple of days.

Compared to 15 heatstroke cases in Ahmedabad and 28 across Gujarat on Friday, the figures on Saturday were 9 and 24, respectively.

Overall, the daily heat-related emergencies attended by EMRI 108 decreased from 96 on Thursday to 70 in Ahmedabad and from 230 to 172 across Gujarat.

The forecast by the0 India Meteorological Department indicated that temperatures might decrease further next week.

Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, and Vadodara may experience a heatwave on Monday, but temperatures are likely to hover around 43°C, according to the forecast.

The forecast indicated that there will be no major change in maximum temperatures in the next two days. Thereafter, a gradual fall of 2-3 degrees is very likely.
