Ahmedabad: Fire safety inspections were conducted across all schools

Fire safety inspections was conducted at all schools across the state on Sunday. The state education department ordered all district education officers to conduct inspections and asked schools to stay open on Sunday.

After the fire in Rajkot, the high court ordered inspection of fire safety equipment and checking of their fire no-objection certificates (NOCs) at all schools in the state.
The state’s education department had instructed all districts to conduct on-site inspections for fire safety on Sunday. DEOs were asked to submit their reports by Monday.

According to sources, after the fire at the Rajkot gaming zone, fire safety inspections were carried out statewide.

Teams from the DEOs’ offices of all districts inspected schools and sealed several schools that had no fire NOCs. 

As the high court ordered the education department to inspect fire safety equipment at all district schools, the education department held a video conference with officials on Saturday to discuss the matter and ordered the inspection.

The inspection was scheduled to be completed within one day and officials have been asked to collate information in the format provided.
