Heavy showers on Friday came as a blessed relief from the cloying heat and humidity of the past few days for Amdavadis. The city recorded 14.2mm of rainfall till 9 pm.
Western parts of the city received relatively more rain than the eastern areas. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the city may get light showers on Saturday.
According to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) figures, the city got 11.3mm of rain from 7pm to 9pm.
Cumulatively, the city got 14.2mm rains till 9pm on Friday. Chandlodia got maximum 38mm rainfall, followed by 36mm in Chandkheda, 34mm in Bodakdev, 28.5mm in Bopal and Science City each, 25mm in Bodakdev and 20mm in Sarkhej among others.
Commuters reported waterlogging on many stretches in western areas including IIM crossroads, Gujarat University, Jodhpur and Shivranjani Crossroads, Vejalpur as well as some stretches near SG Road and Bopal.
The water receded from some of these stretches later, said AMC officials.
Across Gujarat, 211 out of 251 talukas received rain due to a system caused by a cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea.
