The Gujarat police and the state GST department confiscated a truck for illegally transporting booze near Vadodara on Wednesday in a joint operation.
The truck was impounded on Ranoli Road during a normal vehicle check. Officials suspected the vehicle documentation, including e-way bills, were false after studying them, according to an official announcement.
The truck was driven to Nandesari Crossroads, where it was weighed at a weigh-bridge. In the meantime, the truck driver escaped, leaving the MH-20 CT 3497 registration plate behind. The truck's contents were investigated before it was taken to the Nandesari police station.
The truck contained 10,692 bottles of booze, according to the police. They also discovered 152 bags of "white powder," which turned out to be clay powder. "We have booked the accused under sections of the Prohibition Act as well as relevant sections of the IPC for forgery. Our teams are looking out for the accused; they will be arrested soon," said an officer.
