60-year-old succumbs to Covid; 98 new cases in Ahmedabad
Across Gujarat, 218 new Covid cases were recorded out of which 98 were from Ahmedabad city
On second consecutive day, the city recorded death of a patient with Covid positive status. According to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), a 60-year-old female who was a patient in Saraspur, succumbed to the infection.
She had hypothyroidism as underlying comorbidity, said officials, adding that she was fully vaccinated. In 31 days, the city has recorded six deaths.
Across Gujarat, 218 new Covid cases were recorded out of which 98 were from Ahmedabad city.
Other cases included 25 in Vadodara city, 22 in Surat city and 11 in Patan among others. With discharge of 260 patients, the active cases reached 2,013. Out of total, seven were on ventilator.
As of Sunday evening, five districts had zero active cases.
Meanwhile, Covid infections in the country have seen an upward trend in the past few days, with the daily fresh infections at 2,994 on April 1, 3,824 on April 2, 3,641 on April 3, 3,038 on April 4, 4,435 on April 5, 5,335 on April 6 and 6,050 on April 7 and 6155 on April 8.
The overall active cases currently stand at 32,814, as of Sunday, with the daily positivity rate at 3.39 per cent, the health ministry stated further in its release.
