57% of Gujarat's new cases from Ahmedabad

The city on Monday recorded 19 new Covid cases, a slight increase from 13 on Sunday. This number represents 57% of the 33 cases reported in the state on Monday.

The city also saw the death of a Covid patient, after 13 days. This was the first Covid death in the city in March. Gujarat has recorded nine deaths in the first 14 days of March.

With the discharge of 24 patients, the number of active Covid cases in Ahmedabad reached 158. In Gujarat, it inched closer to the 500-mark at 506. Six of these patients are on ventilators.

With the figures of Monday, 11 of 33 districts now have zero active cases, while only four have more than 50 active cases, the state health department dashboard shows.

Gujarat in the last 24 hours administered a first dose of Covid vaccine to 4,622 persons, and a second dose to 40,238. In all, 5.21 crore people have received at least a first dose and 4.96 crore have received their second dose in the state. The state has also administered 11,273 booster shots.
