New Update

About 370 units in the city have decided to halt their use of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for three days starting April 10, demanding a reduction in PNG prices by Adani Total Gas Ltd.

Most of these units are involved in chemical manufacturing.

The Gujarat Dyestuffs Manufacturers Association (GDMA) stated they would switch to alternative fuels during this period.

Several chemical associations had previously urged Adani Total Gas Ltd to lower PNG prices. Around a fortnight ago, GDMA called a meeting of chemicals and other industry units using industrial gas.

It was attended by members of the Vatva Industries Association, Naroda Industries Association, Odhav Industries Association, Naroda Enviro Projects Ltd, the Green Environment Services Co-op Society Ltd and Novel.

They constituted a committee to discuss the issue with the company.

In a statement, GDMA highlighted, “Many chemical and other units rely on industrial gas due to its eco-friendliness.

Despite a notable decrease in international gas prices, Adani Total Gas Ltd has not adjusted its rates. While long-term users in Ahmedabad continue to pay Rs 1,725 per MMBtu, the company offers Rs 1,190 per MMBtu to those using alternative fuels.

Seeking uniform pricing, we have negotiated with Adani Total Gas for two weeks, but the issues have not been resolved.

Around 370 units will stop using PNG for three days starting April 10. If the matter remains unresolved, we will shift to alternative fuels.”
