26 out of 38 consumer courts are running in Gujarat

26 out of 38 consumer courts are running in Gujarat and judicial and non judicial posts are also vacant in courts. Purshottam Murjhani from Jagrut Nagrik gets this information in the RTI and demand to fill the posts immediately or else threaten to file a PIL against Gujarat government in the High Court.

P.V Murjhani filed an RTI on 21-5-2021 to registrar of state consumer forum about the courts and the vacant posts. He received the reply on 4-06-2021 which states that state gave permission to 38 consumer forums and out of which only 26 are working. As 26 are working so as per rules 26 judicial members and 52 non judicial members posts are declared and out of which in 13 places the judicial member posts are vacant and 25 non judicial posts in 52 places are vacant.

Murjhani said that as per consumer rights rule justice shall be given in 90 to 150 days but with this situation the cases are pending from years. In Vadodara around 5000 cases are pending. Crores of claims in cases are pending during the corona time. He demand to fill up the posts immediately or else threaten to file a PIL in the high court against Gujarat government. He also demand to assign the high court of recruiting and other process.
