According to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) data on Monday, Covid test positivity rate (TPR) in Ahmedabad was 10.7% - one in every 10 tests turned out to be positive for the infection.
It was the second consecutive day of high TPR for the district which is among the 32 districts in India to have 10% or more TPR for Covid tests.
As of Monday morning, Gujarat had 1,697 active cases, the third highest behind Kerala with 2,471 cases and Maharashtra with 2,117, according to MoHFW.
On Monday, the state recorded 301 new Covid cases, out of which 114 were from Ahmedabad city, 27 each from Surat city and Morbi, 26 from Vadodara, 19 from Rajkot city, 18 from Gandhinagar, 16 from Vadodara city, and 12 from Amreli among others.
With the update, the active cases reached 1,849. Eight patients were on ventilators, indicated the state health department bulletin.
An eight-month-old child is among the Covid patients at Civil Hospital as of Monday evening.
City-based hospitals said that the hospitalization is relatively lower, but patients have begun trickling in in the past fortnight with some requiring oxygen.
