ST is becoming the best option for convenient transportation for common man - Minister of State for Narmada Development Yogesh Patel
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani virtually inaugurated the state-of-art new bus station constructed by Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation at a cost of Rs. 226 lakh at Waghodia in Vadodara district from Gandhinagar.
Minister of State Yogesh Patel said that 99% of rural areas in Gujarat are connected to the ST service. With 16 divisions, 125 bus depots, 135 bus stands and 1554 pick-up stands as well as 7500 scheduled trips daily by 8500 buses run 35 lakh kilometers and ferry 25 lakh people. Not only that, Gujarat ST services have been made available in neighboring states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Diu-Daman.
ST is becoming the best alternative mode of transportation for the disabled, the elderly and the common man, including providing buses at concessional rates on the occasion of weddings so that poor families do not have to be the victims of accidents while traveling in other transport vehicles-trucks, added Patel. etc.
He said that the benefit of ST service is being extended to the villages. Airport-like bus ports have been constructed at seven places in the state. MLA Madhubhai Srivastava, District Panchayat President Ashok Patel, Ashwin Patel, Collector Shalini Agarwal, District Development Officer Kiran Zaveri, office bearers and officials were present at Waghodia during the inauguration.
An advanced bus station has been constructed in 13365 square meter in the Waghodia area by Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation. Out of which construction has been done in 462.46 square meters of land.
The bus station also has a waiting hall with seating arrangement for passengers including platform, administrative office, control room, canteen room, parcel room, pass office, cash booking office, stall cum shop, driver conductor rest room, female conductor rest room and toilet facilities for passengers.
In addition, special types of toilets and sloping ramps have been set up for persons with disabilities. Approximately 1000 passengers will benefit from this bus station every day.
S. T. Divisional Director of Vadodara S.P. Matroja said that Waghodia Depot handles 295 trips on 33 schedules including local and express. About a thousand passengers travel from here.
