Gujarat SPCA along with forest department team rescued five parrots and one tortoise from various areas of the city. All of them are protect under Wildlife Protection Act and it’s illegal to keep them under captivity.

As per details Raj Bhavsar from GSPCA received the tip about the birds kept under captivity in different areas of the city. Based on that the volunteers along with forest department team rescued birds and tortoise from Bapod, Ajwa road, Khodiyar Nagar and Ajwa Bypass areas.

Out of the rescued are three Alexander parrots, two rose ring parrots and one Star Back tortoise kept under captivity by residents. All of them are protect under Wildlife Protection Act and keep them inside homes is illegal.

Further investigation is on in the matter by the forest department. Raj Bhavsar from the GSPCA request people to contact them if they keep wildlife animals inside their homes as it’s illegal.
