Gujarat Society for Prevention Against Cruelty to Animals and forest department in a joint operation arrested four persons for selling Hedgehog inside Waghodia village. The animal comes under Schedule 4 and majorly used illegally for black magic practices.

As per details given by Raj Bhavsar from GSPCA, the teams are constantly keeping a watch on the accused and finally managed to arrest them after laid a trap at Waghodia. The deal was finalised for 15 lakhs of three Hedgehogs and later the dummy buyers asked for two more and arrested the four accused with the animals.

He further said Hedgehog comes under Schedule 4 of forest animals act 1972 and to sell or buy any animal is illegal and a crime. The team arrested Dhanubhai Parmar 62 from Village Viroj Halol, Ashok Vasava 45 from Devalia Waghodia, Mukesh Nayak 24 from Khidiwada Waghodia and Ishwar Nayak 24 from Khediwada Waghodia for selling.

Bhavsar further said the accused said to be caught the animal somewhere from Kutch said to be its natural habitat. The animal is used for black magic practices and the GSPCA and forest department requested everyone not to indulge in such activities and save animals.
