Govt to provide free English tuition for SC, ST students of IITs.

Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani informed the Rajya Sabha that the government has decided to operationalise a Peer-group Assisted Learning (PAL) Programme for socially and educationally disadvantaged students in the IITs.
Under this programme the senior students of IIT will support as a mentor to the junior student to overcome with the pressure of IIT.
Many IITs have taken steps to improve English compentency by offering two non graded courses in language and writing skills using professional software for English language instruction,conducting formal and informal sessions by senior mentors and holding special English classes on weekends or evening batch.And all the other help through teaching assistant.
All this support will be provided by IITs without charging any fee.
