Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thavarchand Gehlot said that in coming days National Sports centers will come up for the Divyangs and in the first phase five such centers will come up all across the country. He also said that the government is looking for the overall development of the Divyangs and for them various schemes are in place.

Gehlot on his visit to Vadodara to look after the preparation for the PM Narendra Modi visit on 22nd October for distribution of Assistive aids and appliances for persons with disabilities. He was happy with the preparations and said that the government is making all the effort to make the programme a success just like the camp in Navsari. He also said that the government are running various schemes and having plans for their all round development.

“As our government is working on all round development of the Divyangs and for that we are running many schemes. One of them is scholarship for the students of Pre Metric and Post Metric. With this scholarship the Divyang students can go foreign countries and study there. Till date we give such assistance to 46,000 students,” said Gehlot.

He said for the sportspersons they will develop Sports centers for them in various cities and in the first phase 5 such centers will be coming up.

Standing by the commitment towards empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Pst) series of mega camp for free of cost distribution of Assistive Aids and Appliances under the ADIP scheme of government of India are being organised throughout the nation. In the sequence after Navsari Camp a similar Samajik Adhikarita Shivir and free of cost distribution of Assistive Aids and Appliances is to be by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur working under the aegis of Department Of Empowerment Of Person with Disability, Ministry of Social ]ustice and Empowerment, Government of India in close association with District Administration, Vadodara at Nav Lakhi Ground, Raj Mahal Road on 22.10.16.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India will has given his consent to be present as Chief Guest on the occasion. Chief Minister and Governor of Gujarat alongwith Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Government Of India will also grace in the presence of various other digniteries.

ALIMCO has conducted need assessment camps of divyangjan residing in Vadodara district with the focus to cover maximum population of divyangjan specially from distant rural areas.The assessments have been conducted with the help of District Administration, Vadodara and Chota Udaipur in four phases; Phase -I from 11thMarch, 2015 to27thMarch, 2015 and

Phase-II from 19th August, 2015 to 28th August, 2015 and Phase-III from 20th September, 2016 to 30th September, 2016 and Phase -IV from 4th Oct, 2016 to 6th Oct, 2016.

A total number of 9699 beneficiaries have been identified in above assessment camps. These 9321 identified Divyangjans have to be given a total number of 14609 appliances at an estimated cost of Rs.7.88crores (appox.) under ADIP Scheme.

The items proposed to be distributed include both, conventional aids required for daily living like crutches, walking stick, wheelchairs, tricycles, Hearing Aids etc., as also theHigh/ end-devices aimed at imparting education, training, information technology awareness and to serve as direct or indirect means for self employment and enhancing living conditions in general.

In addition to this, 200 beneficiaries of the National Trust shall be present for the
programme of PM. Mostly, Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme beneficiaries shall be present in which insurance of Rs. 1.0 lakh is given for the welfare of Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. Besides, Disha and Vikaas Day Care Centres beneficiaries will also be present. Disha is a day care Cenre for early intervention and school readiness for children upto the age of 10 years. Vikaas is an inter-personal skill development
above 10 years of age and adults. The National Trust schemes improves the quality of life of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities.

NHFDC will also bring 160 beneficiaries for the camp and for distribution ofloans of Rs. 1.10 crores for the purpose of economic empowerment of persons with disabilities.

NlEPlD would be distributing Teaching & Learning Material (TLM) kits to 1383 persons with intellectual Disabilities in different age categories, which will cost Rs. 1.38 crore. TLM comes in four age categories. The kit one being given to age group O~3 years, two for 4-6 years of age, third for 7-11 years of age and forth for above 12 years of age. TLM are given in order to enhance the deficit skills among children with Intellectual Disabilities. It is necessary to provide training to multi sensory input and the TLM facilitate the above. The TLMs have been developed by NlEPID as part of R&D projects. Kit contains teaching aids like beads, puzzles, abacus and mobile phone, calculator etc.
