Big loss to the game – Pranav Amin, president BCA

Former Ranji captain of Baroda team, selector, coach and manager Cecil Williams passed away on Thursday. In his message Baroda Cricket Association president Pranav Amin termed it as a big loss to the game.

Cecil Williams was a former Ranji Captain of the Baroda team and had a distinguished career from 1961 to 1978. He scored over 2000 runs and picked up 129 wickets in 61 First class matches.

Post his cricket career he served the association as a Selector, Coach, Manager besides being a member of the Managing Committee of the Association.

“It is a big loss for the game of cricket, our heartfelt condolences to the family”, said Pranav Amin, President BCA, on the demise of Cecil Williams.

Speaking on his passing the Former Mumbai Captain and CEO BCA Shishir Hattangadi said “Cecil Sir was always there to help, advise, and mentor my generation irrespective of the state they represented. He was always available and accessible to all who wanted to seek his help. I have often, as a young cricketer connected with him to guide me and he was always willing to help. An affable gentleman always lending a hand to the younger generation. Cricket has lost a loyal foot soldier.”
