First train to Odisha departed from Vadodara with 1293 migrants

With the efforts of Vadodara district administration and coordination with the Odisha government, 1293 migrants boarded the first train from the city on Wednesday towards their destinations. With the coordination of the district administration, the first special train left for Orissa with 710 from Vadodara city and district and 583 from 5 other districts of the state.

After completing all the medical examination and other process as per government norms, the migrants reached Vadodara railway station in buses to board the special train to Odisha.

Following the guidance of District Collector Shalini Agarwal and coordination with the Government of Gujarat as well as Orissa, the first Shramik special train left for Balasore. Total 1293 people from various districts of Utkal region and staying here in Gujarat for business, employment left for home through this special train.

Deputy Collector and Nodal Officer R.P. Joshi said, out of these 710 people were from Vadodara city and various talukas while 583 people were from Gandhinagar, Bharuch, Panchmahal, Dahod and Anand districts.  These people were very relieved to go home and thanked the governments of both the states for their help.

As per the instructions of the District Collector, food packets, water bottles and dry snacks were distributed to the migrants by the Food Committee. Other charitable organizations like Shree Jagannath Socio Cultural Organisation Vadodara and Uttkalika also distributed food packets to the people.  Earlier Vadodara District Administration made arrangements for migrants of Bihar, UP, Chhatisgarh, Jharkhand and now Orissa has been added to the list.
