Sonam Kumari, studying in the first year in forensics and staying in a hostel at Parul University near Vadodara, committed suicide in a reputed Aditi Hotel in Sayajiganj area of Vadodara. Her father, who rushed to Vadodara after learning of his daughter’s suicide, questioned the administrators of university hostel for their negligence in allowing her to go outside. He demanded a judicial inquiry into her suicide.
Sunil Kumar a retired Army jawan and father of Sonam said, she is good in studies and her off-line examination was currently underway. She is staying at the university hostel and at the time of admission the authorities clearly mentioned that student need guardian permission to go out from the premises. He point out that how leave was then granted without the Guardian’s approval and that needs to be investigated.
Sonam Kumari, who committed suicide, spoke to her mother on phone at 7 am the same day.
She also took blessings for passing the exams. Sonam kumari told her mother that she would call her after giving the exam. But who knows that was the final conversation between the two, said Sunil kumar with a heavy heart.
Sonam Kumari, 22, of Kishanpur Madhuvan village in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, had booked a room at the Aditi Hotel in Sayajiganj area on Thursday morning. After going to room no. 202 of the hotel, her relative came to meet her in the afternoon. So a call was made to Sonam’s room from the reception. Despite repeated calls, no response was received. They call on her mobile but it goes unanswerable. So the hotel manager and the ladies staff arrived with the master key of the room.
There was a loud sound of TV while reaching near the room. As they opened the room they were shocked to see hanged from the fan. The incident was immediately reported to the police control by the hotel staff and a team of Sayajiganj police reached the spot. The police collected the important evidence and further investigating in the case.
