Faith Foundation writes to the Chief Minister of Gujarat for stricter implementation of ban on all tobacco products to contain spreading of the Coronavirus. As per WHO spitting is one of the major reason of spreading and hence they request in context to save people from gathering at shops and prone to the infection.

Faith Foundation is working for tobbaco related work for the last 16 years and time to time organise awareness programmes in Vadodara city. Presently during lockdown they give counselling to their patients online and helping them quit tobbaco. Now they have written a letter to the Chief Minister of Gujarat requesting him to continue the ban even after the lockdown gets over.

"As per WHO guidelines spitting is one of the reason responsible for spreading Coronavirus. During lockdown we see people don't get the tobacco products for almost more than 50 days and still survives without them. Psychologically also one need 21 days to left any tobacco related habit and it's now almost two months where the shops are closed during lockdown. The government gives signal about phase wise opening of lockdown which means people rushed to tobacco shops and clearly violates the social distancing rule. Secondly they spit everywhere which is dangerous for the others in this time of Coronavirus situation. Hence we request the CM to continue the ban on tobacco shops," said Suzaane Christian.

She added that they wrote to CM in response to the GPRH letter where they request to lift ban on tobacco products as people goes into depression due to unavailability of tobacco products. She said the ban will help in curbing the disease as people will not spit everywhere and don't smoke as it directly affect the lungs and Coronavirus is also attacking the lungs of the people.

Faith Foundation writes the letter to CM, Health Secretary and Commisionarate health and request them not to lift the ban on tobacco shops and companies making the related products.
