Traders set less target sales and expect loss

On the occasion of Dussehra, people had gone out in Vadodara this morning to buy Fafda Jalebi a favorite delicacy. Every year the consumption was high but this time Corona pandemic hit the business and sellers are eyeing a loss. However the business is good as people are coming out to buy Fafda and Jalebis to celebrate the festival.

In Vadodara city, the price of Fafda, which was Rs 250 to Rs 300 per kg last year, has gone up to Rs 350 to 400 this time. Thus, the price of Fafda has gone up by 20 to 25 per cent over last year but the price of Jalebi has not increased and is being sold at Rs 100 to Rs 200 per kg. Compared to the last year the stalls of Fafda-Jalebi is less this year.

However people reached the stalls since morning to buy Fafda and Jalebi from the stalls. Every year the rush was more but this time the farsan traders saw less crowd but hope for a good buisness.

Farsan trader Mukeshbhai said, the price of fafda is Rs 400 and jalebi is Rs 160 per kg. The price has gone up as items including oil have become more expensive. This time, sales of fafda jalebi are declining due to corona.

Another trader Mohanlal said, he has targeted sales of fafda-jalebi due to the Corona pandemic. This time they expect to sell only 60 per cent and lose 40% in comparison to last year.
