An initiative by Dewang Mehta Foundation and NASSCOM.

The Faculty of Management Studies held the event Start-Up 2020 organized by Dewang Mehta Foundation and NASSCOM. The students of FMS had been actively working on logistics, promotion and participation in the event. Students from all major colleges across the region participated from every field of studies.

The program was inaugurated on 7th of February, 2019 with a welcome speech by the patron Prof. (Dr.) Jayrajsinh Jadeja. His speech was followed by Jaimin Shah, MD and CEO of Dev Information Technology limited, Ahmedabad and Raju Shah, CEO of Risabh Software, Baroda. Executive members from NASSCOM along with jury members were present during the opening of the event.

Students were briefed about the event as well as guided for their journey as entrepreneurs by the jury members. The students were given the task of ideation and product pitching on the first day.

Simultaneously, Gagan Sabharwal of NASSCOM also held a meeting with delegates of various companies who had come to visit him. He gave a succinct presentation about the Business Corridors NASSCOM had been building overseas, especially in markets like China, Japan, Germany and Nordic countries, he explained various aspects such as Visa laws, taxation treaties, working conditions and market positioning of Indian service sector. This was followed by a presentation by Mayank Gautam, a Global Trade Developer at NASSCOM, on the Business opportunities in Israel.

The next day was allocated for Product design, prototyping and ad making. The students prepared that, presented their respective ads, and then feedbacks were taken. Products were redesigned and rethought according to consumer needs. After this polishing, the pupils were ready to shine.

Last day was lined up for presentations by all the teams. The jury members put down criteria before the students, and the teams were called to present their products, marketing plans and revenue models. The Vice Chancellor of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Prof. (Dr.) Parimal Vyas graced the event with his presence. He taught students the importance of failures and getting back at finding solutions. The jury members then talked about importance of relevance and uniqueness of the products. Strategies like Blue Ocean were touched upon. The results were announced post lunch and winners were given cash prizes worth Rs. 50,000.

  • Maulik Bhansali from Netweb Software.
  • Vikas Chawda, Vadodara innovation Council.
  • Prashant Halari, Synoverge.
  • Jaimin Shah from Dev IT.

The efforts of the teams from Dewang Mehta Foundation and Faculty of Management Studies were appreciated by all the participants. All the volunteers were thanked by the foundation and Prof. (Dr.) Jayrajsinh Jadeja personally applauded the endeavor of the FMS students.
