External affairs minister Jaishankar visits Sri Lanka to establish early ties

In order to establish early ties with the newly elected president and the administration, EAM Jaishankar visits Sri Lanka.

External affairs minister Dr. S. Jaishankar wrapped up his short visit to Sri Lanka where he called on new President Gotabaya Rajapksa, Prime minister Ranil Wickremsinghe and leader of opposition Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The new Sri Lankan President will visit India on 29th of this month on his visit after assuming the post.

Dr. Jaishankar delivered a special congratulatory message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to new President which called for partnership for shared peace, progress, prosperity and security.

The minister expressed confidence that India Sri Lanka relations will reach new heights under the leadership of new President. He had arrived in Colombo last evening and left this morning.
