EXERCISE CHAUKAS IN SWAC TO THWART GROUND THREAT

A first of its kind exercise code named ‘Exercise Chaukas’ was successfully conducted at all airbases in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra sectors within SWAC area of responsibility. The exercise was aimed at assessing preparedness of Air Force bases to deal with various security challenges.

The objective was to hone skills of air warriors to detect and quickly thwart any ground threat. Apart from Quick Reaction Teams of parent base, co-located Army, Paramilitary Forces and Civil Police also participated in the exercise demonstrating jointness and synergy in swiftly dealing with such threats.

To augment capability of bases for timely detection and neutralization of threat in an integrated manner, aerial assets like surveillance aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, helicopters and micro UAVs were selectively and optimally employed.

Air Marshal HS Arora AVSM ADC, AOC-in-C South Western Air Command visited some of the airbases in the Command AOR to review the conduct of the Exercise CHAUKAS.
