SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' Release delayed due to Rise in COVID-19 Cases

Breaks were imposed once again on the Indian films at the box office, due to an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases across the country.

RRR, one of the most anticipated films, starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt, which was scheduled to release in over 6,000 screens across the globe, is going to be indefinitely pushed. The movie was set to be released in January, and the promotioms were all in full swing. The makers stated they were 'left with no choice' after numerous states implemented new limits to combat the rising COVID-19 quantities in the country, according to a statement released on Saturday.

"Keeping the best interests of all the involved parties in mind, we are forced to postpone our film. Our sincere thanks to all the fans and audience for their unconditional love #RRRPPostopened #RRRMovie," the tweet read.

"Inspite our relentless efforts some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We promise to bring back the Glory of Indian Cinema and at the right time, WE WILL," it added.

Theatres in Delhi have been ordered to close completely, while theatres in Maharashtra are operating at 50% full. It was also declared that theatres in Mumbai will be required to close their doors at 8 p.m. RRR was planned to be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, with a reported budget of Rs 400 crore. RRR is the second film to be postponed as a result of an increase of COVID-19 cases across the country. 'Jersey,' starring Shahid Kapoor, had been pushed back from its December 31 release date.
