Superstar Rajesh Khanna, affectionately called Kaka, left behind a body of work that will be celebrated by generations to come. The term superstar was coined for him as he stormed through massive fan following and stardom by starring in movies like Anand, Aradhana, Kati Patang, Amar Prem, and Khamoshi and several other films. Now, actor-producer Nikhil Dwivedi is set to produce the biopic as he has purchased the rights to turn Gautam Chintamani's book, "Dark Star: The Loneliness of Being Rajesh Khanna" into a film, which will be a biopic on the country's first superstar. Filmmaker Farah Khan has been approached to direct it.She will write the script with author Gautam Chintamani. However, there is no announcement on who will play Rajesh Khanna.
Nikhil Dwivedi said, "Yes, I have the rights to Gautam Chintamani's book Dark Star now and I am in talks with Farah Khan to make this film. That's all I can give for the time being. There will be some big announcement regarding this, I will definitely share with you guys. I am very excited to bring Rajesh Khanna's biography on the big screen".
Farah confirmed the development and added, "Yes, I have read Gautam's book and it's very fascinating. We are in conversation over this, but I cannot comment more."
when Nikhil was ask whether he plans to seek consent from Rajesh Khanna's family, he said, "It's not something we want to do behind someone's back and we're definitely not making something that thrives on controversies and sensationalism. It's the story of India's first superstar and we want to capture the magic of his personality and his achievements in the film. A film on his life is long overdue."
