New Update

Nayanthara, a South actress, has been cast as the female lead in Atlee's next film, which will star Shah Rukh Khan. While there were rumours that the actress might leave the film due to delays following the Aryan Khan narcotics case, it appears that she is still working on it. "Nayanthara is still very much a part of the film. She has not quit," Bollywood Hungama quoted a source as saying.

Not only that, but the source goes on to explain Nayanthara's involvement in the movie. "In Atlee's next, Nayanthara plays an investigating officer," the insider added, adding that Shah Rukh Khan plays both the father and the son.

"The movie's premise is about this one man (played by SRK) who leads a group of wrongly accused female jail mates (played by Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra and others) and turns them into a group of vigilantes fighting against social evils. Nayanthara plays the top cop investigating the case and it's her versus Shah Rukh in the film, but they also play love interests," the source added.

Following the arrest of his son Aryan Khan by the Narcotics Control Bureau, Shah Rukh Khan's 10-day schedule for the upcoming film was cancelled. The star has yet to return to the set. Nayanthara had apparently begun filming on the film, tentatively named Lion, while Shah Rukh was away. A few photos from the scene had leaked on the internet, showing Atlee's crew preparing for the shot.

Nayanthara's third collaboration with Atlee will be the upcoming feature. She made her acting debut alongside Arya in the director's debut film Raja Rani. She also acted alongside Thalapathy Vijay in his 2019 superhit flick Bigil.
