Once again history has turned-up it's coin, after 21 years Miss Universe crown is brought back to India by Harnaaz Sandhu. Before her, Lara Dutta was crowned the Miss Universe in 2000.

The 21- year old Harnaaz Sandhu from Punjab represented India at 70th Miss Universe 2021, held in Eilat, Israel. Andrea Meza, former Miss universe 2020 from Mexico, crowned Harnaaz. In the event, Ms Sandhu was up against Miss Paraguay and Miss South Africa before making India proud at the competition held at December 12,2021. Sandhu advanced from the intial pool of 80 contestants into the top sixteen, later advancing to the top ten, top five, and top three. She had previously been crowned Miss Diva 2021,Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, and placed as a semifinalist at Femina Miss India 2019.

Sandhu was born and raised in Chandigarh in a Sikh family. She began competing in pageantry as a teenager, winning title Miss Chandigarh2017. She is pursuing her master's degree in public administration and has also worked in a few Punjabi films, including "Yaara Diyan Poo Baran" and " Bai ji Kuttange".
