Vikas Bahl’s latest action thriller, Ganapath is slogging away to touch the double-digit mark. Despite releasing around the festivities of Durga Puja, Navratri, and Dusshera, the film is barely getting any footfalls in the cinema halls.
After a dismal first Monday, the film showed a slight improvement on Tuesday, but still couldn’t reach the Rs 10 crore mark.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon starrer Ganapath earned Rs 1.50 crore (early estimate) on Tuesday, with an occupancy of 12.28% in the Hindi-speaking belt.
The film showed a slight growth from Monday (Rs 1.30 cr) as it benefitted from the Dusshera holiday in some parts of the country. The total collection of Ganapath after five days stands at Rs 9.80 crore.
While Ganapath has no competition in the North as Yaariyan 2, which was released on the same day as Ganapath, has failed to attract the audience, in the South, Vijay’s Leo is stealing away all the attention. The film has already collected more than Rs 400 crore at the box office. Akshay Kumar’s Mission Raniganj, which released earlier this month, has also fizzled out of the theatres.
Ganapath also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ziad Bakri, Girish Kulkarni, and Jameel Khan. It is said to be a dystopian drama where Shroff essays the role of Guddu, a man who is the messiah of the poor. Besides Shroff, the film also has Sanon acing her action sequences. However, the film only focuses on its action and dance sequences, ignoring the story entirely.
