Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com, who is one of the investors or "sharks" on the reality show Shark Tank India, addressed about rumours that he is also a producer on the show and dictates how it should go. Shark Tank India is a spinoff of the original American show, which has been on the air since 2009 and has aired for 13 seasons.

Anupam Mittal answered the claims in an interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, saying in Hindi, "Absolutely not, absolutely not, absolutely not. I've heard this myself, and I wondered, If I was was actually producing the show, why wouldn't I allow myself to eat. The Sony people don't let me eat or sleep! They make us shoot continuously, they keep us hungry. Why? Because most of the contestants have food companies, and when you're hungry, you're likely to invest more money."

Entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges in Shark Tank in the hopes of receiving funding. Lenskart co-founder Peyush Bansal, BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover, BoAt co-founder Aman Gupta, Emcure Pharmaceutical Executive Director Namita Thapar, MamaEarth co-founder Ghazal Alagh, and Vineeta Singh, CEO and co-founder of SUGAR Cosmetics also appear on Shark Tank India.

Anupam also highlighted the error he made in front of Amitabh Bachchan on Kaun Banega Crorepati when he contrasted their two shows in the same interview. He claimed that he told Bachchan that although he receives compensation for appearing on his show, Anupam is required to pay money to appear on Shark Tank.

Sony Entertainment Television broadcasts the show. This week, the sharks will also appear on The Kapil Sharma Show.
