Union home minister Amit Shah is to meet slain Punjabi rapper-politician Sidhu Moose Wala's family at the Chandigarh HQ of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). 

Moose Wala's murder he was shot dead in his car in Punjab's Mansa district  sent shockwaves across the country. 

Police have said the murder was linked to inter-gang rivalry and are investigating the roles of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar in his killing.

On Friday, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann - who was slammed for scaling down state-provided security to Sidhu Moose Wala a day before he was gunned down met the singer's family. 

Before this, finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema and rural development minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal had also visited Moose Wala's house.

The 28-year-old singer rose to fame with catchy songs that often targeted rival rappers and politicians while portraying him as a man who fighting for his community's pride.

Besides India, Sidhu Moose Wala also had a massive following abroad, especially in Canada and Britain - both home to large Punjab-origin communities.

Also on Friday, police arrested two men - both linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from Haryana's Fatehabad. They have, though, been arrested in connection with a different case.
