Employees of Khaswadi and other crematoriums demand insurance cover or included them in the VMC staff. They are performing the last rites of Covid patients in the gas pyres said that the Rs 9,000 in salary is insufficient and the fear of death is constantly haunted them.
The death toll of corona patients in Vadodara is increasing day by day and as per Covid 19 guidelines the cremation is being conducted at Gas pyres located at the designated crematorium in Vadodara.
Anurag Pandey, supervisor of Jalaraam Seva Trust on Friday staged a protest at Khaswadi cemetery demanding insurance cover for the employees or their inclusion in the corporation.
Anurag Pandey said that about 25 employees are working at a monthly salary of Rs. 9000 at various crematoriums for the last rites of Covid patients. A fear is always haunting them and hence they demand to provide insurance cover to them as they are risking their lives and have families to support. They also demand to include the employees in the corporation if they do not want to provide security cover.
The supervisor also threaten to intensify their agitation if their demands are not resolved by the administration.
