A man and his daughter have been arrested in connection with the NEET solver gang case in Varanasi.

Solvers are someone who pretend to be a candidate and take an admission exam, in this case the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), which is a requirement for medical and dental schools to offer MBBS and BDS programmes.

After the arrest of Julie Kumari, a student at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), who was taking an examination in the place of another student, the gang was revealed.

This is the first arrest of a candidate in the NEET solution gang case, according to Varanasi Police Commissioner A Satish Ganesh.

Gopal Vishwas, a resident of Tripura's Dhulai district, was apprehended when evidence of his ties to the solver gang surfaced, he claimed.

During interrogation, Vishwas admitted to contacting Tripura's Pradipta Bhattacharya and Mrityunjay Devnath to have his daughter admitted to the medical course, according to the Commissioner of Police.

The deal was fixed for Rs 50 lakh.
