BHU allows pass out Bangladeshi students to continue hostel stay without fee

The Banaras Hindu University has allowed pass-out Bangladeshi students staying on campus to continue in hostels till the situation normalises in that country.

The decision has been taken in the interest of students who have completed their studies at the university and were to vacate hostels as mandated upon the completion of the programme.

Professor SVS Raju, coordinator at BHU’s International Centre, informed that keeping in view the challenges Bangladeshi students could face while returning to their home country, the university has decided that those students who wish to continue their stay in university hostels, will be allowed to do so and extend all possible help to them.

They will not be required to pay any charges for that as well.

Last month, protests in Bangladesh began as students demanded an end to a quota system that reserved 30 per cent of government jobs for the families of veterans who fought in Bangladesh’s war of independence against Pakistan in 1971.
