The Rajasthan government has announced to impart medical education in state colleges in the Hindi language apart from English.

The announcement was made on Hindi Diwas (September 14).  Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have also announced MBBS in Hindi.

Rajasthan government is introducing the language in phases whereby two medical colleges in the state Sampurnanand Medical College of Jodhpur and Medical College of Barmer affiliated under the Marwar Medical University will adopt the changes from the 2024-2025 academic session.

Pursuing an MBBS in Hindi is optional for students, said Principal Secretary of the Medical Education Department, Gayatri Rathore. The introduction of Hindi in medical education was also the part in state’s budget.

Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday announced that the MBBS course in the state will now be offered in Hindi from the ongoing academic session.

Sai said his government was happy to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to impart medical education in Hindi which he had expressed during a rally in Uttar Pradesh in 2022.
