Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is all set to shoot for his much-anticipated thriller, Drishyam 2, from September 26 adhering to government restrictions and regulations.
On the occasion of Mohanlal’s 60th birthday (May 21), the actor announced that Drishyam sequel is on the cards and Jeethu Joseph will direct it. The makers of the film also revealed that the team is planning to begin the shoot on August 17 with minimal crew.
However, the shoot got postponed due to increase in the number of novel coronavirus cases across Kerala. According to the latest report, the project is likely to go on floors from September 21 and Mohanlal will join the sets on September 26.
The makers are planning to shoot major sequences of the film in Kochi and Thodupuzha. The film will be bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor.
The cast and crew have been asked to take Covid-19 tests on a regular basis post shoot. Actors, who have signed the project, will not be allowed to travel until they complete shooting for their portions.
Drishyam, which released in 2013, is one of the best thrillers ever made in Indian cinema. In fact, it is the first film in Malayalam to garner over Rs 50 crore at the box office.
Veteran actress Meena will be a part of this project as well. In Drishyam, she played the role of Rani George, Mohanlal’s wife. Her performance garnered good response from both audience as well as critics.
