Dr. Anil S. Patel to Conduct Faculty Development Program on ‘Creativity, Innovation, and Problem Solving’ at CHARUSAT
CHARUSAT got the fund of Rs. 20 Million to promote Creativity among the students.
Residential Faculty Development Program on ‘Creativity, Problem Solving, and Innovation’ is going to be organized at Indukaka Ipcowala Institute of Management (I2IM), a constituent of Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT), Changa during November 25- December 1, 2018. More than 50 faculty members from various universities across the Gujarat are participating in this FDP conduct by Dr. Anil S. Patel widely acclaimed and renowned multidisciplinary R&D Expert from USA.
Dr. Anil S Patel is US based Scientist of Indian origin and so far has travelled 115 countries of all continents. He has been a Member of Socratic café group that organises weekly discussions on all burning questions including philosophical and worldly at Seattle uptown espresso Café for the last 15 years. Dr. Anil Patel done Bachelors from the M S University of Baroda and Master Degree from the Purdue University, USA. As per the 2018 Rankings of the World Universities, Purdue University is ranked 60th in the World.
He has his Ph D and Post-Doctoral Fellowship from North-western University, USA. Importantly, he has been to Stanford University, USA for an Executive Program. Stanford University is ranked as one of the best 3 Universities in the World. Moreover, he has more than 150 publications and presentations. More than 25 US and International patents are awarded to him with more than 50 awarded scientists under his supervision.
He has successfully demonstrated his ability to recruit, train, mentor and lead interdisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers in the fields of material science and technology, modern biology, modern optical science, engineering and technology at Alcon. Alcon is the world’s biggest provider of eye care products and the leader for innovations in Intraocular Cataract Lenses (IOLs) created under the leadership of Dr. Anil Patel which are in more than 100 million eyes till the date. He retired as Vice President of Research for Surgical products at Alcon.
This residential Faculty Development Program is unique and second in the sequence after 2017 broadly will cover Creativity, Problem Solving and Innovation with reference to Need for Problem Solving and Innovation, Types and Styles of Thinking, Need for Creativity Education in real life, Visualization Strategies – making thoughts visible, Mind Mapping, Scamper Technique, Lateral – Vertical – Divergent – Convergent Thinking, Logic and Reasoning along with Case Studies on Contemporary Issues and Practices based on Indian situations. Major focus will be on individual and group activities during hands on sessions.
As a prelude to Faculty Development Program, Expert Sessions by Dr. Anil Patel on ‘Creativity’ and ‘Research’ had also been organized for the Faculty Members (125) and Research Scholars (125) of the CHARUSAT on November 23, 2018.
