Beat plates and aggressively protest against the builder and administration

For the last four days, displaced residents of the Warsia Sanjaynagar slum in Vadodara are protesting with demands for rent and houses promised to them. On Monday they reached the builder’s office and beat plates to raise their protest and demanded six months rent and house. Police detained around 60 protestors from the spot.

Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan removed the Sanjaynagar slum in Warasia area under their slum free city campaign. Builder was assigned to built a housing colony there, but the scheme went into shambles and the situation of the displaced people become bad to worse. As per the scheme a rent was decided for the people but the builder failed to pay and their condition get more worse.

The displaced residents of Sanjaynagar have repeatedly approached the corporation authorities and the builder to pay the rent and house, but with no reply they sit on protest near the builder’s office for the last four days.

On Monday they beat plates and tried to wake up the builder and system. They aggressively protest and disrupt traffic in the area. Police later detained around 60 protesting people from the spot.

Agitated protestors said their agitation will continue till their demands is not met. Even if the authorities try to suppress their movement in any way they will not withdraw the protest. They demand the remaining six months rent and a house on the decided site as soon as possible.
