DF rolls out COVID Care Centre to curtail second wave of pandemic
New Update

With India embattling the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, local population is also facing the challenging situation. Deepak Foundation, with support of CSR donors like Deepak Group of Companies and others, is complementing the Government’s fight against COVID-19 through an array of preventive and curative measures relief measures.

The Foundation began with providing relief services in over 11 districts across four States since the mandatory lockdown that came into effect on March 25, 2020. In the current year (FY 2021), as second COVID wave is creating a havoc with high mortality, three dedicated COVID Care Centers (CCC) have been established to save lives in rural areas. The total capacity of the CCCs initiated till date is 150 beds across sites for cases needing hospital care. Two CCCs were initiated in Gujarat (Vadodara district and Chhota Udepur district) and one CCC was operationalized in Maharashtra (Palghar district).

Deepak Foundation has set up its first COVID care centre for public at Deepak Medical Foundation premises, Nandesari. Right now for the COVID care set up, 50 bedded facilities are established on the Deepak Medical Foundation (DMF) premises in Nandesari. 10 ICU beds, 10- Oxygen beds and 30 isolation beds along with nutritious meals for patients are provided. The number of beds can be increased over time.

"Our efforts are to reduce the rush to urban tertiary care facilities which are already overstretched and do not enough staff, infrastructure, stock and supplies to save lives. The suppliers of pharmacy, logistics, oxygen are also taking undue advantage of the situation. Hence it is imperative that we provide 24 x7 cost-effective, timely and quality lifesaving opportunities for rural communities seeking medical care of COVID affected critical cases within reach. We are also promoting COVID appropriate behaviours among rural communities to prevent the spread of the second wave in rural areas.” said Archana Joshi, Director, Deepak Foundation.
