The condition of Khaswadi cemetery, a model in Vadodara city cemeteries, has become pitiable. The benches and fans installed for the facility inside have broken down due to lack of maintenance. While the fountain adorning the cemetery is filled with dirt. Shiv Sena city unit has shown the reality of the crematorium and raised outrage against the system.
Social activist and Shiv Sena spokesperson Tejas Brahmbhatt shows the deteriorating condition of the cemetery and accused the Seva Sadan authorities for failing to provide basic facilities in the city’s cemeteries. The benches, fan and the fountain all are in sorry condition and need to be repaired.
Equipped with modern facilities, the condition of the Khaswadi cemetery is not good and lack of mantainance leads to animals like dogs and pigs are freely roaming inside. The benches set up to facilitate seating in the cemetery are broken. The fans on the roof are broken and needs to be replaced.
A fountain was placed to beautify the cemetery, which is currently filled with dirt. Tejas Brahmbhatt accused the corporation and said, smart city is no where to be seen and the condition of the Khaswadi cemetery is the present example. The crematorium was constructed at a cost of lakhs by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation and considered a model of Vadodara. But the condition has deteriorated due to lack of care.
There is a urgent need to maintain the condition of the cemetery to avoid the recent incident like in Uttar Pradesh.
