Dr. Yogesh Chandarana a dentist in Vadodara comes up with a noble idea to spread oral care among people of the city. He opens a dental museum which has 1000 odd collection of dental instruments, furniture, toothbrushes and other oral hygiene aids and other things to spread the message in more significant way.
Probably one of its kind museum in the whole country the idea is to inspire people to take preventive oral care from prenatal to childhood to old age. Here inside the museum the collector put on display the history of dentistry and the changing aspects of it through years.
“Dental care is what people neglect most and we want to teach them that its also a very important part of the human body and can be fatal. The idea of a museum came to my mind to teach the people about oral care in different way. I put inside on display my personal collection which i started from 1975. The main aim of starting such a museum to create awareness through photographs, replicas and other collections and also to help the students of dentistry for their research work,” said Chandarana.
Some of the significant objects in the collection are Dental health awareness publications by Dr. K.D. Jilla since 1920, stamps published on dentistry since 1891, currency notes and coins depicting dental historians, toothbrushes ranging from pre world war -ll era, old dentistry equipment’s, dental posters, artwork and paintings on dentistry, souvenirs, jey chains and gift articles on dentistry and many more. There is also a video presentation of dental care for the people.
