Woman was washing clothes at Dev river passing near Mahadevpura village
A crocodile attacked a woman and dragged her inside the water while she was washing clothes in Dev river passing near Mahadevpura village in Waghodia taluka and dragged her into the river. The woman died as the crocodile tore the woman’s legs, arms and thighs.
As per details, Mangiben Ukelbhai Vasava ( 54), a resident of Mahadevpura village went to wash clothes in the Dev river passing through the village. Mangibahen was busy in washing clothes and during that time a crocodile rushed out of the river, attacked and dragged her into the river.
Family members and villagers rushed to the spot after the message spread and tried to locate the the women. Local village swimmers, including the woman’s husband and son searched the river to trace her.
The swimmers, who descended into the river with lethal weapons to free the woman from the crocodile’s clutches said, Mangiben was caught by two crocodiles in their jaws.
After fighting against two crocodiles for an hour they finally brought Mangiben out of the water. However she could not survive as the crocodiles tore one of the woman’s arms, legs and thighs. Only her body was recovered from the river.
When the incident was reported to the Waghodia police and the forest department team rushed to the spot after the incident and began investigation in the matter. The incident shocked everyone in the area.
