On the initiative of Vinod Rao, Officer on Special Duty and Education Secretary, COVID Army of Teachers has been formed to support the health teams which is constantly working for the safety of public health against Coronavirus. 5000 teachers of Vadodara district show their readiness to join and nearly 120 teachers will train them as master trainers.

On Saturday these master trainers trained other fellow teachers willing to work as members of the Covid Army in the 50/50 batch. Yogesh Sirsath, Master Trainer and Principal of Shreyas Vidyalaya (Gujarati Medium) said that COVID army will give give teachers a chance to become Army Man for the health of the society. There is a lot of enthusiasm to work for the good health of the society by joining in this army.

The Army is being formed as a precautionary measure to facilitate the management of the third phase of Covid starting in the month of June. The number of infected people is likely to increase in this phase and the COVID army will work like a link between the patients and the health teams.

The teachers in this army are to stay at home and contact the patients four to five times a day based on the list given by the administration four to five times a day. They will collect the data of important health parameters like the patients with fever or a decrease in the number of symptoms, cold and cough symptoms, bruising on the lips and face.

After getting the information they will give a note to the health department. If any patient’s condition seems to be worrying, they will immediately inform the administration. They have to maintain constant contact with the patient and their relatives under quarantine and it will be helpful in monitoring. “We are thrilled with this social responsibility,” he said.

Nitaben Jani, principal of Shreyas Vidyalaya, English medium, said that the public health system would provide a list of patients to each teacher who joined the army. The teachers then contacted them by mobile to assist the system in their treatment.

The training was held in various batches in all the talukas of the city and district on Saturday. At the beginning of the training, the teachers took victory resolutions as per the request of the Chief Minister.
