Vadodara district administration completed land acquisition and handed over 613628 sqm of acquired lands to Western Railway

Kevadia in Narmada district is emerging as a world class tourist destination due to the Statue of Unity. The Ministry of Railways has started the project of laying Vadodara-Dabhoi-Kevadia broad gauge railway line as part of Prime Minister’s Dream Project to connect Kevadia with other parts of the country by rail. This work was continuously reviewed at the state level by the Chief Minister as well as the Deputy Chief Minister and necessary guidance was given by them.

Under the guidance of the District Collector, the Vadodara District Administration is working hard to realize this project through timely and expeditious acquisition of lands required for this project. In the midst of lockdown, 613628 sqm land of Vadodara district required for this project has been acquired in time and its direct possession has been handed over to Western Railway.

For this project it was necessary to acquire land for a total of 8 villages of Dabhoi taluka and the work was completed in phases under 14 proposals by the Dabhoi Province Officer and Taluka team along with the district administration.

The project mainly involves gauge conversion of existing railway line between Vadodara and Dabhoi and laying of new railway line from Dabhoi to Kevadia.

District Collector Shalini Agarwal on Monday reviewed the land acquisition work for the project and gave further guidance. She also give instructions to complete the remaining process of payment of land compensation to the people given their lands for the project in next 15 days.

A total of Rs 31.91 crore will be paid to land holders for this nationally important rail transport project. Out of this, an amount of Rs 24.98 crore has been paid.

In order to ensure timely and transparent payment of fair compensation to the land givers, all 14 proposals and awards under it have been announced in a timely manner after obtaining necessary approvals from the State Government under all relevant sections of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act.

The Vadodara District Administration under the guidance of the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister has worked hard to make the implementation of the Project easier.
