Child line was initiated in Baroda and working since 2001 under Baroda Citizens Council which is a 24 hours free phone service for children in distress. Taking this forward the Ministry of Women and Child Development has granted the “Child Help Desk” to help the children.

The 24 hours child help line service is functional at the Railway Station for children in distress. The child help desk booth is situated next to the RPF center, which makes it an easy accessibility for their support also. The helpline was officially inaugurated on April 25, 2018 by Manoj Shashidhar (IPS. Commissioner of Police), Vadodara City.

Devendra Kumar (Divisional Railway Manager) Vadodara, Amit Kumar (Outgoing DRM), Sharad Singal (SP, Railways), Vadodara and Hemant Kumar (Senior Divisional Security Commissioner) was also present during the inauguration.

The programme was also attended by Dr. Zenia Gupta (Senior Divisional Commissioner Manager) and lots of support from Sanjeev Dubey (Police Inspector, RPF) and J. J. Rabari (PSI, Government Railway Police, Vadodara). The occasion was also graced by Sameer Khera (Chair Person, BCC), Amit Goradia (Trustee, BCC), Harleen Chawla (Trustee. BCC), and Priya Jagdale (Executive Director, BCC).

The main aim of the Program is to help the children who come in contact with the Railway Station and the nearby vicinity. There is a team of 12 people with 7 team members, 3 volunteers, l counsellor and 1 project co-ordinator who look into the immediate counselling and rehabilitation of the child rescued at the Railway Police. It is also seen that Child line takes the follow-up up to 3 months of any child who is repatriated.

Baroda Citizens Council (BCC) has been working in the city of Vadodara since 52 years. The organization has been active in the field of Child Rights, Women Empowerment, as well as Health related issues in Vadodara Rural and Urban areas. BCC is working with the children under different projects like Savera Educational Sponsorship Program, Aanganwadi Adoption Program, Born Learning, Police Educational Sponsorship Program, POCSO Mitra, and women related projects like Family Counselling centre in Jail and Pankhi Helpline for Women.
